Vladislav Geraskevich
Vladyslav Heraskevych – a Ukrainian skeleton racer, International Master of Sports of Ukraine.
Vladyslav Heraskevych became the first skeleton racer in Ukraine's history to earn an Olympic license and compete at the Olympics.
In 2016, at the Olympic Games he took 8th place. In 2017, he became the first Ukrainian skeleton racer at the senior world championships, where he took 24th place.
In February 2026, Vladyslav Heraskevych competed in training runs on the Olympic track in a "helmet of remembrance" depicting portraits of more than 20 Ukrainian athletes – adults and children – killed by the Russians during Russia's full-scale war against Ukraine.
The IOC (International Olympic Committee) disqualified Vladyslav Heraskevych from the 2026 Winter Olympics before the first official run because of the "helmet of remembrance".
The athlete appealed the IOC decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). However, the CAS arbitrator found the IOC rules "reasonable and proportionate".
