Super League
On the evening of April 18, 2021, European football clubs announced the creation of the Super League.
The mastermind of this tournament is Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez. He will become the new president of the Super League. His deputies will be Man United owner Joel Glazer and Juventus president Andrea Agnelli.
In total, 20 teams will take part in the tournament. Of these, 15 will participate on a permanent basis; these are the so-called founding teams.
Each team will play home and away matches against its opponents. Thus, in the group stage, each club will play 18 matches.
The top 3 teams from each group advance to the quarterfinals, and the teams that finish fourth and fifth will play each other for the additional quarterfinal places.
The tournament is scheduled to start in August. Playoff ties will consist of 2 matches, and the final of just one match at a neutral venue.
