Naples
An Italian football club from the city of Naples. It plays in the Italian top league (Serie A). It was founded in 1926.
Napoli is a two-time winner of the Italian championship (1986/87, 1989/90) and a five-time winner of the Coppa Italia. On the European stage, the club has one significant achievement: victory in the 1988/89 UEFA Cup. Napoli is one of the strongest clubs in Southern Italy and the 4th team in the country in terms of the number of fans.
Since its founding in 1926, the club has changed its name several times. Initially it was called Associazione Calcio Napoli; in 1964 the team was renamed Societa Sportiva Calcio Napoli and was called that until 2004, when Napoli went bankrupt. The new president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, revived the club under the name Napoli Soccer. In 2006, he decided to return the old name, Societa Sportiva Calcio Napoli.
Since 1959, the club has played its home matches at the San Paolo stadium. Their home colors are a sky-blue shirt and white shorts. The club's official anthem is "'O surdato 'nnammurato". Such world football stars as Diego Maradona, Gianfranco Zola, Fabio Cannavaro, Edinson Cavani and Gonzalo Higuain have played for the club.
